Wood Dale salon owner charged with fake IDs
A Wood Dale salon owner was charged with possessing fraudulent state IDs Tuesday after Wood Dale police searched his business for forged documents.
Jose Alberto Juarez, 42, of 10423 Palmer in Melrose Park, was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a fraudulent ID card, felonies punishable by one to three years in prison and a fine of up to $25,000.
Juarez was charged as a result of an investigation launched by Wood Dale police in which officials said they suspected production of fake Illinois and U.S. government IDs, including drivers licenses, Social Security cards and resident alien cards at a local business. Officials said the department collected enough evidence to obtain a search warrant for Rumors II Hair Salon, 301 E. Irving Park Road.
Police said Juarez is the owner.
The search warrant was executed Tuesday without incident and officers seized evidence relating to the possession and manufacturing of fraudulent IDs. Officials said they suspect the cards were supplied to community members who paid for them.
Juarez is free on bond.
