Chicago to expand tourism website to cover more neighborhoods

More detailed information about Chicago neighborhoods is to be available online.

Chicago tourism officials say a redesign of the city's travel website will launch Monday. The website is to be updated with nearly 2,000 neighborhood sites and facts. Officials gave a few examples, including a medieval armor shop in Norwood Park and a Confederate burial ground in Greater Grand Crossing.

Chicago tourism director Dorothy Coyle says the city wants to "make it as easy as possible" to explore its neighborhoods.

Tourism officials also say that the city's Chicago Greeter service will be available for local residents from June 1 to July 31. The service is usually reserved for out-of-town visitors.
