Vacuum theft at Arlington Heights Kohl's thwarted

The third theft of vacuums from an Arlington Heights Kohl's in nine days was foiled by a security guard, according to police reports.

The same man suspected of stealing vacuum cleaners from the Kohl's at 800 W. Dundee Road on Dec. 31 and Jan. 3, attempted to steal two more, valued at $1,150, around 6:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8.

This time, a security agent followed him through the store and chased him when he exited an emergency door with the two vacuums.

The man dropped them and ran across Dundee Road to a black Dodge Neon parked in an apartment lot.

The car, driven by an accomplice, sped away. A shoplifter stole two vacuum cleaners valued at $1,250 from the store around 6:25 p.m. Jan. 3, leaving through a fire exit, and two others of the same kind on Dec. 31.
