The drive for green

The spring Speaker Series at McHenry County College, “Is the Drive for Green Destroying the American Dream?” is free and open to the public in Building B of the MCC conference Center, 8900 Hwy. 14 in Crystal Lake, with the exception of the April 30 tour.

Ÿ Tuesday, Feb. 1 (6 to 8 p.m.)

Screening of “The Green Machine,” narrated by Brad Pitt, followed by a discussion with MCC faculty members Ted Erski (earth science instructor), Ann Esarco (accounting instructor), Bob Mihelich (applied technology instructor) and Bruce Spangenburg (horticulture instructor.)

Ÿ Tuesday, March 1 (6 to 8 p.m.)

Keynote speaker Christopher Steiner, Forbes writer and author of “$20 per Gallon.”

Ÿ Tuesday, March 15 (6 p.m.)

Screening of the film “Earth Days.”

Ÿ Tuesday, April 12 (6 to 8 p.m.)

A discussion about the greening your home or business, featuring Mike Jackson, Illinois State Preservation architect, Mark Kaindl, of Aztech Locknut Company in Aurora, and Jack Pizzo, president of Pizzo & Associates Ecological Restoration in Leland.

Ÿ Tuesday, April 26 (6 to 8 p.m.)

A “Green Debate” among local community and business leaders, focusing on the most controversial topics in green innovation.

Ÿ Saturday, April 30, time TBA

Tour the Center for Green Technology in Chicago, 445 N. Sacramento Blvd.
