To build a sense of Lily Lake by uniting its residents.Given the delicate balance between the need for revenue and over-taxing local businesses, what is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.I feel our sales tax is average, but since our main source of sales tax has been closed for two+ years, our community suffers.Talking with your friends and neighbors, what seems to be their biggest public safety concern? Explain the concern as you see it, and discuss how you think it should be addressed.Our public safety concern focuses on traffic; quantity and speed. We have many residents along Rt 47, Rt 64, along Hanson and Empire Rd. We rely on the Kane County Sheriff for our police protection and feel the effects when their manpower, funding, etc. is cut. Enforcement is the key to reducing speed. Keeping a good relationship and open communication with the Sheriff helps the enforcement efforts.In these tight economic times, municipal budgets have to be prioritized. Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?Lily Lake does not collect a property tax from its residents and therefore we have very little ""trim room"" in our budget. We need every dollar we collect to maintain our Village. We keep a very tight budget.What#146;s one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?To create a Community Committee focusing on community fests, helping hands to residents who need assistance, clean-up community days, etc.
