Living an volunteering in the community over the years has given me the opportunity to meet and work with members of the community and fire department. With my job I have learned to work with people to settle differences in a timely fashion. For the past year or more I have attended the monthly fire district meetings and have a general understanding of the day to day challenges that face the board and fire district.Why are you running for this office, whether for re-election or election the first time? Is there a particular issue that motivates you, and if so, what is it?Over the past year I have attended the fire district meetings and have become more aware of the issues facing the district. As a member of this community, I feel maintaining the financial stability and level of service in the fire district is important.Talking with your friends and neighbors, what seems to be their biggest fire safety concern? Explain the concern as you see it, and discuss how you think it should be addressed.The economic times, talk of increased taxes, potential layoffs and cut backs within the fire district have some of the residents in the community concerned with the level of service the fire department might face in the future.Continued careful thought and planning by the board to manage expenses is necessary to maintain services while staying within the budget.In these tight economic times, budgets have to be prioritized.
