Good communication plays an integral role in assuring that residents are informed and involved in the decision making. We need their input.Key Issue 2 I would like to see some additional commercial development around the busy state highway intersection of Route 47, Route 64 and Wooley Road to bring in more sales tax revenue for village road projects and increased Kane County patrols on Route 47, etc. The bike trail connection is close there.Key Issue 3 I plan to continue to assist the Plan Commission with the development of Simon Anderson Park (dedicated to the founder of Colonial Ice Cream)on Empire Road.Questions Answers What makes you the best candidate for the job?I'm the best candidate for the job because of my experience over the last six years as a volunteer and Trustee for the village. I've compiled village history, edited, proofread and helped solve problems. I reviewed budgets, contracts, bills, ordinances, agreements and resolutions. I've met with developers and assisted in planning for the future. This will help me continue to serve the residents of Lily Lake.Given the delicate balance between the need for revenue and over-taxing local businesses, what is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain. Our current sales tax is just right.Talking with your friends and neighbors, what seems to be their biggest public safety concern? Explain the concern as you see it, and discuss how you think it should be addressed. The biggest public safety concern in Lily Lake is probably the speeding on Route 47. We were able to reduce the speed limit years ago, but it's still an issue. The other concern is the fire department response time. We are hoping for a station in Lily Lake down the road.In these tight economic times, municipal budgets have to be prioritized. Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?I'm satisfied with our current budget. We are a frugal team.What#146;s one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?I will suggest to the Board that we encourage the established and new businesses in Lily Lake by organizing an event to bring us all together this spring. This will give us an opportunity to meet, share information and ideas which could benefit the community.
