Picture book author Carolyn Crimi of Evanston reads from her new book, “Dear Tabby,” at a storytime event for all ages at the Book Stall at Chestnut Court. Some of Crimi's other children's books include “Principal Fred Won't Go to Bed” and “Henry and the Buccaneer Bunnies.”

The “On the Move in Arlington Heights” exhibit focuses on the way that people have traveled around the village of Arlington Heights throughout the years — whether by foot, horse, bicycle or car. The exhibit uses photos and artifacts from the Arlington Heights Historical Society's collections.

‘Seven Guitars'

Paul Rodriguez

Comedian and actor Paul Rodriguez, known as one of the first “Latin Kings of Comedy,” brings his act to the Improv Comedy Showcase in Schaumburg. Rodriguez, who has been performing his stand-up comedy in both English and Spanish for three decades, has been featured on numerous TV shows and in films like “Blood Work,” “Ali” and “Rat Race.”

‘Pattern Wizardry'

On Tuesday, Feb. 22, the Kohl Children's Museum opens its new exhibit, “Pattern Wizardry,” which features hands-on activities introducing children to the fundamentals of patterns and how they are building blocks in the natural and man-made world. Kids can follow a winding spiral path, enter a land of hexagons, create mosaics with pattern blocks and climb into a giant kaleidoscope.

‘Global Soccer Mom' in Glen Ellyn
