Puxataunee Phil promised 6 more weeks of winter, and cabin fever has set in. Trade in that fever for fun this summer with camps offered by the Boy Scouts of America, Three Fires Council. The boys who attend camp learn to safely use a bow and arrow, wood carve, tie knots and more, all while having fun at the same time. Twilight camps are offered for working parents, resident week long camps are offered for older boys, and tot lots are available at select camps for siblings.

“Outing is three-quarter of 'ScOuting,' and our summer programs are the laboratories of learning with age appropriate activities that help teach many life skills in a fun and exciting setting,” said Matt Ackerman, Scout Executive for the Boy Scouts of America, Three Fires Council.

Each day starts out with an opening ceremony. Scouts arrive prepared with rain gear, non breakable cup, a lunch and snacks that do not require refrigeration. Camp is primarily outdoors, so proper attire is expected. Scouts participate in a campfire or ceremony in the afternoon with awards and recognition for a job well done.

The theme for this year's Day Camp Program is "Wild Wild West," and activities will be centered on this western theme to include challenging games, archery, crafts, sports and swimming at select locations.

Nationally certified camp directors administer the camp programs and key staff members are certified in the respective subject they instruct. Health and safety are priorities at all camps. All camp staff are trained to handle emergency situations that may arise. Camps are held at different locations, and cost varies. Early bird fees apply if paid in full by March 31, 2011.

All cancellations must be made in writing prior to the start of camp. Only a portion is refundable –see web site www.threefirescouncil.org for full refund policy or register online today!
