Oil painting to be auctioned off during May 21 arts event

“Abstract Winter,” an oil painting by acclaimed Highland Park landscape artist Nina Weiss, will be among the art works auctioned off during the Evanston Art Center's popular “Kaleidoscope” art party and auction on Saturday, May 21.

The event will be held from 6:30 to 11 p.m. at the Evanston Art Center, 2603 Sheridan Road in Evanston (just north of Northwestern University).

Tickets are $100 for the event, which includes food and drinks, the live auction and a silent auction for tickets, museum visits, Chicago Symphony Orchestra seats, fine dining and more.

“My oil on canvas painting entitled “Abstract Winter,” is 48” x 36” and like my other landscape paintings, it draws the viewer into a heightened vision of color and gesture, depicting the natural world with colors that are intense, lush, and dramatic; going beyond the traditional ideas of a green landscape. Teasing out the complex colors in the landscape I create layers color, line, and form. The works depict powerful moments from my travels through the everyday vistas of our world,” notes Nina Weiss, whose work has appeared at leading galleries and are included in several prominent corporate art collections.
