Enjoy! Piano Studio at Rediscover Records

Virginia “Gin” Smith has frequently found herself asking her students, “Did you enjoy it this week?”. And so, as a natural course of action, she recently renamed her studio, Enjoy! Piano Studio.

Her style is fun, creative, and in-tune with the goals and preferences of each student. Gin has been teaching both adults and children how to play the piano, full-time, for 16 years.

Her Elgin studio is located at 164 Division St., right in the heart of downtown Elgin, and about one block from The Centre. Since moving her studio back to Elgin late last summer, Gin has enjoyed getting to know the other local businesses, art and musical events, and just recently put on her first student performance at Rediscover Records on Chicago Street.

Gin says that her students had the normal level of nervousness, but thought that they performed at a high level. The students seemed to be proud, and students and parents stayed for a while, talking and eating and taking pictures. Food for the event was provided by Mandoline Vista Catering Productions. Gin wants to have regular and frequent student performances in downtown Elgin in the future. She likes to teach her students to share their gifts with the community. Some of her students are also songwriters. As a songwriter herself, Gin is able to foster their talents, and hopes that some will create original compositions to be performed publicly.
