She said that when you realize it doesnt matter what people think, thats when youll be successful and accomplish your goals in life. She shared one of her favorite quotes with the students. Life is more adequately measured by the lives you touch than by the things you acquire.

A firefighter uses a thermal imaging camera to check the temperature of a room set on fire that was not equipped with sprinklers. The damage in this room was much more substantial than in the room next to it which had smoke detectors.

Ernie Mizen got to watch the fires from the comfort of a padded recliner the firefighters provided for her. She and her late husband Ted donated the house for firefighter training. The lived in the house for 47 years. We had wonderful years here, she said.

Hinsdale firefighters start to put water on a fire started in a room without sprinklers. This fire would have killed anyone who couldnt have gotten out of the room within about one minute. Evacuation would be difficult at best, said Tim Tess, of Nexus Engineering in Oakbrook Terrace. He said the temperature in this fire would have topped out at around 1300 degrees.
