The family of the late Jason Boutwell will hold a memorial during the 15th anniversary of his passing.

Jason was a 24-year-old husband and father, when he was gunned down on the afternoon of May 28, 1996 in Elgin. His killer, Alejandro Constantino, has yet to be captured and brought to justice.

This event is to bring together family and friends, and to raise awareness that his murder case remains open.

Friends are welcome to attend the memorial from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 28 at Trickster Gallery 190 S. Roselle Road in Schaumburg.

Photos, video, newspaper articles, and items will be on display and all are invited to share stories.

Having turned his life around after being a troubled teen, he mentored young men and strived to be a good role model. He participated and spoke on the panel for Operation Fresh Start, a tattoo removal program for former gang members, sponsored by St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. It was featured in Chicago area newspapers and broadcast on the news. He spoke on the importance of community involvement with the youth at town hall meetings. Shortly before his passing, he attended an anti-gang conference in Spokane, Wash.
