Wheaton toddler's drowning ruled an accident

The drowning of a 16-month-old Wheaton girl was ruled an accident Sunday by the Cook County medical examiner's office, a spokesman said.

Zoie Zurawski died Saturday morning at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, a day after falling into a pool in Kendall County near Montgomery.

Kendall County sheriff's deputies and Oswego paramedics responded to a 911 call at approximately 11:40 a.m. on Friday reporting that the girl had fallen into a pool, according to the sheriff's office.

The child was rushed from the home on the 0-99 block of Aldon Road to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora before being airlifted to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, according to authorities.

The Kendall County sheriff's office is investigating, but believes the death was “a tragic accident.”
