Maywood courthouse regains electricity, reopens
A suburban Chicago courthouse is set to reopen after storm damage left the building without electricity.
Cook County Chief Judge Timothy Evans says court will resume Thursday at the county’s courthouse in Maywood.
Proceedings were canceled at the facility Wednesday.
Cases scheduled for Wednesday have been continued until a later date in the same courtrooms for the same time as originally scheduled.
Heavy storms Tuesday evening had left about 300,000 ComEd customers in the dark.
Nearly 400 ComEd repair crews were working to fix the storm damage.
Officials say it could take until late Thursday to get power restored to everyone affected.
ComEd has 3.8 million customers in northern Illinois.
