Elburn going to permits for Metra lot

Beginning Tuesday the village of Elburn will begin issuing quarterly parking permits for the Metra commuter parking lot.

The permits for the remainder of the year will cost $85, and will be valid from the date of purchase until midnight Dec. 31.

The cost of the permit is based on the current $1.25 daily fee for 60 days per quarter, plus $10 for printing and processing costs. Parking is free on weekends.

In an effort to accommodate all commuters, the Elburn Police Department office will be open 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Sept. 22, 27, 28 and 29. In addition, the office will be open from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 24 and Oct. 1.

The permit must be displayed from the inside rearview mirror of the vehicle so it can be seen by the police from the traffic aisle.

The Metra station is at 422 E. Railroad Ave., and is accessed off Keslinger Road, east of Main Street. The lot has room for more than 600 vehicles.

Applications for purchasing the permit will be available on the village website, elburn.il.us. The form can be printed and brought to the police station at the time of purchase. Cash, check or credit card can be used for purchase.Sales will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
