Blue Whiskey Cinema offers Stephen King's 'The Mist'

The Blue Whiskey Cinema series will continue with Stephen King's "The Mist" at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19 at Cutting Hall, 150 E. Wood St. in Palatine. It wil be presented in black and white, the way director Frank Darabont originally envisioned the film.

"When Stephen King was writing the story he was inspired by those old, grainy black and white Bert I. Gordon monster movies of his youth," Darabont says in an interview. "That planted a seed in my head: wouldn't it be cool to do 'The Mist' in black and white?"

The Blue Whiskey Cinema is thrilled to be bringing this 2007 horror classic to the big screen the way it was meant to be seen. "The Mist" takes you into a freak storm that unleashes a species of blood-thirsty creatures on a small town, where a band of citizens hole-up in a supermarket and fight for their lives. According to Darabont, "It's my preferred version for those fellow film buffs and geeks that really dig black and white movies."

The Blue Whiskey Cinema Series will have nine screenings, between October 2011 and June 2012.

Admission is $8 in advance, and $10 at the door (plus $1 per order fee – not per ticket).

All screenings begin at 7:30 p.m.
