St. Charles North stages 'The Witches' Nov. 3-5

The St. Charles North High School Drama Department will present its fall play "The Witches" for three performances, at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 3-5. All shows will be staged in the SCN Auditorium on the St. Charles North High School campus, 255 Red Gate Road, St. Charles.

This Roald Dahl classic tells the scary, funny, and imaginative tale of a seven-year-old boy who has a run-in with some real-life witches! "In fairy tales witches always wear silly black hats and black cloaks and they ride on broomsticks. But this is not a fairy tale. This is about real witches. They dress in ordinary clothes and look very much like ordinary women. They live in ordinary houses and they work in ordinary jobs. That is why they are so hard to catch." Witches, as our hero learns, hate children. With the help of a friend and his somewhat-magical grandmother, our hero tries to expose the witches before they dispose of him and turn all children into mice!

“Horrible things will happen if you can't spot a witch!” Bring the whole family to enjoy St. Charles North's fall production that uses special makeup effects, costumes, lighting, and a set design to tell one of Roald Dahl's most fantastical classic stories!
