3 departments coordinate to solve Waukegan burglaries

A Waukegan man has been charged in connection to three residential burglaries that occurred last week, and a 20-year-old Libertyville man is in custody, according to police.

Waukegan police responded to three residential burglaries in the area of River Road on Nov. 8, and realized that the offenders entered through unlocked garage doors or open overhead garage doors, according to police.

Waukegan Police said the burglaries occurred during the overnight hours of Nov. 7 and Nov. 8 and by working with the Libertyville Police Department and Northbrook Police department were able to narrow a list of suspects.

Northbrook police had at least five open cased and Libertyville Police had six with similar entry methods, according to authorities.

Anton Herres, 19, of the 200 block of West Water Street in Waukegan was brought in for questioning and gave statements tying him to the Waukegan burglaries, according to police.

He was charged with three counts of residential burglary and is being held at the Lake County jail in lieu of $75,000 bail, according to police.

Herres implicated two other suspects in the burglaries, one juvenile who was taken to a juvenile detention center on three counts of residential burglary, and a 20-year-old Libertyville man who was arrested in Northbrook, but had not been charged in Waukegan as of Tuesday. Officials said the man, whose name is being withheld pending charges, gave statements to Northbrook Police implicating him in the River Road burglaries.
