Hoffman Estates Fire Department promotes five firefighters

The Hoffman Estates Fire Department promoted five of its own to new ranks at a ceremony during last Monday’s village board meeting.

Michael Buckel and Michael Hartman were promoted from lieutenants to captains while Jeffery Golden, Christopher Lenczewski and Brian Raymond were promoted from firefighter/paramedics to lieutenants.

Mayor William McLeod swore the firefighters into their new positions. Each then chose a family member to affix a new badge to their uniform.

Village officials congratulated and praised the promoted firefighters. Trustee Karen Mills noted that it’s “great to see promotion from within” and Trustee Gary Pilafas said the promotions “make our great fire department even better.”
