Crews extinguish rooftop fire at Delnor Hospital

Crews extinguished a small fire Thursday on the roof of Delnor Hospital in Geneva, officials said.

Firefighters responded shortly after 6 p.m. to an activated alarm and reports of smoke inside the hospital at 300 Randall Road.

No one was hurt, but several patients near the fire were temporarily moved to other areas of the hospital as a precaution, fire officials said.

Firefighters reported minor smoke and water damage to a second-floor area underneath the rooftop fire. Hospital operations were not interrupted, they said.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation, and an estimation of the damage wasn’t immediately available.

Geneva firefighters were assisted by crews from St. Charles, Batavia, Elburn, West Chicago, North Aurora, Fermi Lab, Winfield, Carol Stream and Sugar Grove.
