Wauconda man gets probation for relationship with girl

A Wauconda Township man was placed on probation for two years Thursday after he admitted having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl.

Brian Porras, 40, of the 28000 block of North Madison Street, was also ordered to complete whatever sex offender counseling his probation officer deems appropriate.

Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Mary Stanton said the girl’s mother found a note in her daughter’s bedroom on Aug. 8, 2010, indicating there was a relationship with Porras.

The woman called Lake County sheriff’s police and the girl told investigators she had been molested by Porras, and had also emailed him nude photographs of herself.

Porras called the girl’s mother seeking to discuss the situation, and Stanton said those phone calls were used to obtain a court order to record phone calls between the two.

Porras was eventually recorded admitting to the mother that he had sex with the girl and also had the photographs on his cellphone.

Porras pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse during a hearing before Circuit Judge James Booras.

Stanton agreed to drop a charge of child pornography in exchange for the plea.

Booras told Porras he is to have no unsupervised contact with minors while on probation and must limit his use of the Internet for work purposes.
