Still time to register for 'Happy, Healthy 2012'

Spots are still available for Advocate Condell Medical Center's free lecture and screening to help you stick to your New Year's resolutions to lose weight, exercise and simply live healthier.

“Happy, Healthy 2012” will feature three presenters. Jennifer DeBruler, MD, Board Certified in Internal Medicine, will talk about weight management and how it affects heart health; Joshh Rager, RD, Wellness Services Dietician, will talk about easy ways to improve your nutrition; and Carol Dieball, Centre Club Fitness Instructor, will discuss the importance of exercise and how to make fitness fun.

The event will take place on Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, in Advocate Condell Medical Center's Conference Center. Check-in begins at 6:30 pm; the lecture starts at 7 pm. The program is free, but registration is required by calling 800-323-8622. The event code is 5G41.

The first 50 registrants will receive a free online Health Risk Assessment, to be completed at Advocate Condell Medical Center's Centre Clubs, located in Libertyville and Gurnee. The confidential screening tool asks for basic health information, provides a detailed report on your health risks and outlines steps that can be taken to reduce your risks and lead a healthier life. The assessment takes about 20 minutes, and participants will receive a complimentary one-week membership to the Centre Club.

The goal of the program is to provide comprehensive support to those who wish to lose weight, exercise or eat healthier in 2012, according to DeBruler.

“Many people start the new year with the goal to eat more healthfully and exercise more, but it's difficult to stick to those goals without help,” DeBruler said. “People should know that they have the vast resources, medical expertise and advanced technology of Advocate Condell to help them along the way.”

Advocate Condell Medical Center offers a variety of services to the community to help individuals develop and maintain healthy lifestyles, including a comprehensive Weight Management Program, which provides a range of eating plans, all incorporating American Heart Association and American Dietetic Association guidelines. Support and education classes and nutritional counseling are also available, and many services are covered by insurance and Medicare.
