South Elgin brothers charged in Elgin stabbing

Two South Elgin brothers were arrested by Champaign police last week in connection to a stabbing that occurred outside an Elgin restaurant in January, police announced.

One victim was stabbed three times during a fight at El Paraiso Restaurant, 314 S. McLean Blvd., on Jan. 8 and has recovered from those injuries, police announced Monday.

Ricky L. Green, 28, of the 1200 block of Amanda Circle in Elgin was charged on Jan. 22 for his involvement in the fight, and two other South Elgin men were charged and arrested on Wednesday, police said.

Authorities identified Quinelle Franklin, 21, and his brother Lavelle Franklin, 22, both of the 300 block of Sandhurst Lane, as additional suspects and obtained warrants for their arrests.

On Wednesday, Champaign police arrested both men and took them back to Elgin.

Police said Quinelle Franklin stabbed the victim twice in the upper torso and once in the abdomen.

The Franklin brothers were both charged with aggravated battery and are being held in lieu of $70,000 bail.

Police said several additional suspects involved in the fight were also identified, and additional charges may be filed.
