Chicago street named after comedian Bernie Mac
Bernie Mac is getting a Chicago street named after him in a posthumous honor from his hometown.
The stand-up comedian was born in Chicago and developed his stand-up routines in clubs on the city’s South Side.
Mac died in 2008 at the age of 50. The street naming ceremony will take place Tuesday in the Englewood neighborhood.
The comedian is best known for his stand-up performance in the Original Kings of Comedy, a tour that showcased some of the most popular contemporary black comedians.
Mac’s brash stage performances led to appearances in films such as “Ocean’s Eleven” and “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.”
He also starred in the hit comedy series “The Bernie Mac Show.”
