Ÿ Neck pain can stem from poor posture to worn joints and muscle spasms. Although it is common, neck pain can be debilitating and affect daily activities. Join Dr. John V. Prunskis, an independent physician specializing in pain management on the medical staff at Centegra Health System, as he discusses common symptoms of neck pain, simple ways to prevent pain and surgical treatment options. “Crakin’ and Poppin’: A Neck Pain Musical” will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1 at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Crystal Lake, 200 Congress Parkway.
Ÿ With more than 25 bones in the hand, men and women often experience pain in this important part of the human body. Carpal tunnel, a painful condition that is caused by a pinched nerve, can turn everyday activities into impossible tasks. Join Dr. Kelly Holtkamp, an orthopedic surgeon on staff at Centegra Health System, as she discusses common symptoms of carpal tunnel and ways to ease the pain. Dr. Holtkamp will be providing free carpal tunnel screenings, therefore, space is limited. “Carpal Tunnel: Hand It Over” will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Crystal Lake, 200 Congress Parkway.
Ÿ By definition, a concussion is a traumatic brain injury that alters the way the brain functions. Concussions are caused by a blow to the head or upper body and can result in headaches, problems with concentration, judgment, memory and balance. Whether a child is at risk playing a sport or one is interested in learning more about concussions, join program supervisor at Centegra Neuro-Rehabilitation Center Barb Wasilk, Centegra Neuro-Rehabilitation Case Manager Julia Szot and Trauma Coordinator Melanie Korzuchowski, RN, as they discuss symptoms of concussions, ways to prevent head trauma and how to take care of someone who has suffered a concussion. “Concussion = Brain Injury.
