Wisconsin farm donates 151,000 eggs to needy
MILWAUKEE — A Whitewater farm is donating thousands of eggs to the needy, just in time for Easter.
S&R Egg Farm is donating more than 151,000 eggs to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin.
Bonnie Bellehumeur, president of Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, says demand for food is up 23 percent over the last two years and they are pleased that egg producers can help.
Feeding America spokeswoman Gina Styer says they plan to serve omelets to volunteers who help run the pantries as a thank you Wednesday morning.
The eggs will also be available for them to take back to their pantries.
Egg farmers are donating nearly 10 million eggs to the organization nationwide.
