Three people charged in burglaries at Target
Three West Chicago residents have been charged with a series of burglaries of video games and high-end headphones from the St. Charles Target in March.
One is a 14-year-old juvenile, one has been arrested, and one is at large but a warrant has been issued for his arrest, police said.
Edgar Aguilar, 22, of the 600 block of East Blair Street, faces a felony burglary charge and is due in court Friday.
Paul McCurtain, spokesman for St. Charles Police, said the three were recorded on three occasions in the Target, 3885, E. Main St., taking Nintendo DS games and headphones out of their packages and stuffing them into their clothing.
Loss prevention personnel shared detailed descriptions of the three, along with their vehicle, with other stores and police departments.
McCurtain said the three were charged with burglary instead of the less serious retail theft because they went into the store with the intent to take the items, which satisfies the conditions of a burglary charge.
McCurtain also said other charges are pending from Wheaton Police.
Wheaton Deputy Chief Tom Meloni could not immediately be reached for comment.
The charge against Aguilar carries a top prison sentence of seven years if convicted, but probation also is an option.
A warrant for Arturo Garcia, 18, of the 30W200 block of Pomeroy Street, was issued in early May, according to court records. He also faces felony burglary charges.
