Lost Valley Visitor Center holds nature workshops

Submitted by McHenry County Conservation District

McHenry County Conservation District invites all to a new and expanded series of workshops designed for people who enjoy living in, working with and talking about nature. The People and Nature Certificate Program is designed to serve the homeowner, volunteer steward, nature educator or lover of the outdoors.

Are you interested in one of the Conservation District’s certificate programs, but not sure which one or how they differ from one another? Are you confused about which workshops are required and which are elective? Is it OK to take a class if you don’t plan on receiving a certificate?

Here is your chance to have all of your questions answered, plus get a $15 credit toward your first workshop. Drop in anytime between 7 and 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 5 at Lost Valley Visitor Center, Glacial Park, Route 31 and Harts Road, Ringwood.

Tom Simpson, Research Field Station ecologist and coordinator of the People and Nature Programs, will give a short presentation on native plants and Illinois landscapes at 7:30 p.m., to give you an overview of some of the important ideas in the People and Nature Program.

There is no charge for this introductory session. For more information, call Simpson, (815) 678-4532, ext. 8218 or visit www.MCCDistrict.org.
