Toritto named publisher of FireHouse Magazine

Arlington Heights-based Cygnus Business Media has named Greg Toritto as group publisher of Firehouse Magazine and Firehouse.com.

Toritto has been involved in the fire service industry for more than 13 years, and most recently served as managing director of Fire Chief and the Wireless Communications Group at Penton Media, which included Fire Chief, Urgent Communications, and the International Wireless Communications Expo.

“First responders are one of the most important components of a community’s infrastructure,” says Toritto. “Firehouse Magazine and Firehouse.com have done an excellent job reaching the decision makers in the first responder community and engaging the fire service through our print, online, and social media outlets. Firehouse will continue to expand its content offerings and our goal is to always provide first responders with the critical information they need, when and where they need it.”

Firehouse Magazine is a monthly publication that is devoted exclusively to the fire service. With the highest circulation in the industry, the publication’s primary audience is America’s 1.2 million firefighters. Firehouse’s broad scope extends into every firehouse in America, reaching department personnel at every level in the chain of command, from fire chiefs and officers to company officers and firefighters.

As the leading fire and emergency services portal, Firehouse.com provides free email service, community forums, live chats, line of duty death rosters, and covers daily news and information for the emergency services sector. In addition, the site features special reports from firefighters who are on-site at some of the country’s major disasters. Together, Firehouse Magazine and Firehouse.com reach over half a million unique users every month.

“Greg is highly respected in the industry and will be a key asset to the Firehouse franchise as we move forward,” says Executive Vice President Scott Bieda. “Engaging decision-makers has been a strong focus for our staff, which has led us to develop new products, including our Firehouse iPad app and our mobile products.”

Firehouse Magazine and Firehouse.com are published by Cygnus Business Media.
