“Friends of Woodland” + Domino's Pizza = Dynamic Duo

Gurnee, IL, June 11, 2012: One of northern Illinois' most successful fundraising combinations joined hands once again this spring, and the result was another winning promotion. “Friends of Woodland,” (FOW), a non-profit organization working with Woodland School District 50, teamed with Domino's Pizza in Gurnee and Grayslake to raise $718.35 for FOW projects. The fundraiser is held twice each school year to raise money for various education-related purposes.

“We are extremely pleased to announce the outstanding success of our spring fundraiser,” said Steve Chiodo, Franchisee of Domino's Pizza in Gurnee. “The fundraiser was very successful – and that's due in large part to the hard work of Woodland School District 50 and the FOW. We are proud of our partnership with the District and look forward to our next program in the fall.”

Chiodo had high praise for everyone who worked together to make the promotion a success. “The students are terrific, bringing a lot of excitement and energy to the promotion,” he said. “I would also like to thank the faculty and staff for distributing information about the promotion . . . and special thanks goes to Pam Horn and the FOW team for organizing the event.”

The large Woodland School District includes students who live in the Domino's Pizza delivery area in Gurnee, while others live in the Grayslake delivery area. Although the two stores are owned by different franchisees, that does not limit the success of the promotion. “Teamwork is an important part of this promotion,” continued Chiodo. “Employees of the Grayslake and Gurnee Domino's Pizza stores deserve a hand, too: after all, it takes a lot of hard work to assure timely deliveries.”

Domino's donates $1.35 for every order delivered as part of the promotion and $2.00 if the customer picks up their order at the store. Domino's also donates a free pizza party for the homerooms in each grade responsible for raising the most money. This spring's winners were Mrs. Rogers (Kindergarten – PM), with first through fifth grade honors going to Mrs. Mautner/Mrs. Therens, Mrs. Tanzillo; Ms. Rinkenberger, Mrs. Campbell and Mrs. Ziegler. “The pizza parties always motivate the students,” acknowledged Chiodo. “Without a doubt, the parties are an essential part of our formula for success.”
