New businesses to open at Otter Creek Shopping Center in Elgin
Changes are happening at the Otter Creek Shopping Center along Randall Road in Elgin, including the addition of some new businesses.
Before the year ends, at least three businesses are expected to have opened in the center, which is on the west side of Randall Road, just south of Route 20.
Already, a new salon and financial business joined the center, said Sarosh Saher, senior planner with the city of Elgin.
The Salon Professional Academy will be offering cosmetology, nail technology and esthetician classes out of its location within the center, as well as services.
Citizens Finance, also now a part of the center, is a consumer loan company, Saher said.
The third addition will be Big Lots, a discount store with department store-type inventory.
It is expected to open by November in the store formerly occupied by Party Werks.
“They will probably open relatively soon,” Saher said. “They did some interior build outs. I would imagine it would be pretty soon that we would see the finals.”
Party Werks still is at Otter Creek, but just moved to the south in the strip mall, to a smaller store, Saher said.
The United States post office also moved from one spot in the strip mall, to another vacant spot to the north, Saher said.
The strip mall operators initiated all of these changes at Otter Creek, Saher said.
“We are just reacting to what they are sending us,” he said.
However, the filling of the vacant spaces with new businesses is a positive for the area.
Love shopping? Geneva Commons is hosting an I Heart Shopping event Thursday, Aug. 30, at the Randall Road mall.
As part of the event, there will be food, fashion and fun, including exclusive sales, fashion shows, free samples, demonstrations, tastings, a performance by 24 Seven Band, and more.
The event takes place from 4 to 8 p.m.
If you want to get the most out of it, you will need to visit the I Heart Shopping Table near the mall’s bell tower to get your chance to win, and a guide to the exclusive event-only offerings from participating stores.
The first 300 guests also will receive a free goody bag.
There will be raffles, with a chance to win one of 66 prizes, including a shopping spree.
Now open: A new Player’s Choice Academy is now open just off Randall Road in Algonquin.
The business is located at 2806 Corporate Parkway.
While the business still is putting the finishing touches on everything, it does have Iron Mike hitting machines available, and long tunnels, and basketball and volleyball courts ready for use.
Player’s Choice also has a location in Lake in the Hills at 9210 Trinity Drive.
The new Algonquin business is offering specials, including special days and rates for students from local, nearby high schools.
