Dr. Keyes elected president of AAAASF in Gurnee

The American Association for the Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, Inc. (AAAASF), located in Gurnee, Illinois, announces that preeminent plastic surgeon Geoffrey R. Keyes, MD, FACS has been elected AAAASF's new board president. Dr. Keyes was previously secretary, treasurer and a vice president on AAAASF's board and assumes the presidency held by Harlan Pollock, M.D.

Dr. Keyes, a recognized authority on issues of patient safety, has been a board leader at AAAASF, performing many roles and chairing many committees, with an emphasis on advancing and upholding AAAASF accreditation as the “gold standard,” defined by its commitment to patient safety.

“Dr. Keyes has played a vital role in AAAASF's pursuit of surgical excellence and our ongoing commitment to patient safety. We are proud to have someone with Dr. Keyes' national reputation assume the presidency of our board," said Dr. Pollock.

Dr. Keyes has the distinction of being certified by two medical boards: The American Board of Plastic Surgery and The American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. He is one of the foremost plastic surgeons in Los Angeles and has published numerous articles and papers, as well as lectured internationally.

He is the past president of the California Society of Plastic Surgeons, as well as past president of the Aesthetic Society Education and Research Foundation (ASERF). He is president of the Los Angeles Society of Plastic Surgeons and treasurer of The Rhinoplasty Society. Dr. Keyes is a graduate of the Loyola University, Stritch School of Medicine, and interned at Barnes Hospital-Washington University (St. Louis, Missouri). He served in two residency training programs at the University of Illinois Medical Center (Chicago, Illinois).

Dr. Keyes is an active member of the following organizations: American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery; American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery; American Board of Plastic Surgery; Fellow of the American College of Surgeons; The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Inc.; American Society of Plastic Surgeons; California Medical Association; Aesthetic Society Education and Research Foundation; California Society of Plastic Surgeons; Los Angeles County Medical Association.
