This photo was taken in east central Iowa right after Christmas. The warm, early morning sun caused the ground fog to envelop the five lone trees in the field washing out everything around the trees.

During our recent record-setting cold spell I spent some time photographing the frost patterns on our bedroom windows. This photo was one of my favorites, reminding me of peacock feathers or etchings on fine crystal.

Heres a cardinal taken at the Meacham Grove Forest Preserve in Medinah, IL. Oftentimes, winter scenes can be overshadowed with gray clouds and a lack of color, which made this cardinal stand out so much more. This was taken on a warmer winter day in December.
