Red Kettles hope to raise $200,000 for The Salvation Army Tri-City Corps

The traditional red kettle campaign kicks off the Christmas bellringing season for The Salvation Army Tri-City Corps Joe K. Anderson Community Center.

This year, the Red Kettle Campaign hopes to raise $200,000 through the assistance of volunteer bellringers and generous donors.

Lt. Betsy Clark, Corps Officer of The Salvation Army, states, "We depend greatly on the gift of volunteerism to make our red kettle campaign successful and the generosity of our donors to make an impact on our Christmas campaign. We are grateful for a wonderful community that supports families in need in the Tri-City area."

For more than 65 years, The Salvation Army Tri-City Corps Joe K. Anderson Community Center has provided Christmas assistance to families in need including food, toys and clothing.

Last year, over 1,300 families were provided food assistance and over 2,900 children with toys and clothing. The Salvation Army expects to serve the same number families, if not more, this year.

The money raised locally in the Red Kettle Campaign provides resources for Tri-City families not only during the holiday season, but year-round, through emergency assistance and community center programming. Volunteers are crucial to the success of the Red Kettle Campaign and The Salvation Army Tri-City Corps is asking the community for their help.

Individuals, businesses, service clubs, churches and families are invited to register for bellringing shifts either online at salar.my/TriCityRTR or by calling Deanna Wieden, volunteer coordinator, at (630) 377-2769.

Families in need of assistance can contact Belen Hood of The Salvation Army Community and Family Services at (630) 377-2769.
