Arkush: Fox more comfortable with younger, rebuilt Chicago Bears team

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Since arriving in Chicago, John Fox has been anything but an easy read or a quick study for Chicago Bears fans or the local NFL media.

Rarely has he been as open and expansive as he seemed when meeting with media at the NFL owners meetings in Boca Raton, Fla., on Wednesday.

For starters, Fox acknowledged something I haven't heard him say before - his team is rebuilding and is still a work in progress.

"I think obviously we had some holes," he said. "I think (general manager) Ryan (Pace) and his staff did a good job of kind of getting what was probably the oldest roster in football now to where we're probably in the top three youngest, if not the youngest.

"And I think that's something where sometimes you take some steps back to take some steps forward."
