Major renovations coming to Stratford Square Mall
Work is expected to begin this fall to add stores, restaurants and entertainment facilities to Stratford Square Mall in Bloomingdale, officials from StreetMac LLC announced Friday.
The work also will include improvements to two of the main entrances at the mall, which offers roughly 1.3 million square feet of retail space and is anchored by Macy's. Carson Pirie Scott, Sears, Kohl's, Burlington Coat Factory and the 16-screen Century Theatre.
The redevelopment project will begin to take shape later this month when Round One - which currently operates in Los Angeles and Japan - opens a 40,000-square-foot entertainment complex that officials say will include bowling, billiards, gaming and karaoke. It will be the company's first facility in the Midwest.
Elsewhere in the mall, Red Robin officials said they plan to remodel their restaurant to introduce their new Gourmet Burgers and Brews concept, which will feature both indoor and outdoor seating.
Mall officials said they also plan to add streetscape retail stores, install news signs and upgrade finishes within the complex.
In addition, developers say they plan to improve the mall's exterior with fire pits, more seating and additional landscaping.
"We're taking Stratford to an entirely new level," Anthony Giannini, senior vice president of development and acquisitions at StreetMac, said in a news release. "To work on the redevelopment of a core mall in a major market like metro Chicago is exciting"
