Man convicted in 2012 murders gets life sentence
A Chicago man convicted in the 2012 shooting deaths of three men in a dispute over a leather jacket has been sentenced to natural life in prison.
Curtis Davis was convicted of first-degree murder of Terry Brown, 34, and Julius Benford and Michael Nowles, both 29.
Cook County prosecutors said Thursday that Brown took a leather jacket from Davis in December of 2011 following a dispute between the two men over drug sale profits. Davis went to Brown's apartment in March 2012 to retrieve the jacket. The two became involved in an argument that led to the shooting deaths of the three men.
Prosecutors say the 43-year-old Davis previously served 18 years of a 40-year prison sentence for the death of Harvey Austin. Davis was released from prison in 2008.
