What changes, if any, do you think need to be made?Somewhat satisfied. Initially with technology. Other districts in the area are miles ahead of us in the use of electronic devices in the classroom. Currently our teachers are doing a great job with the use of student owned devices but could do more if a common device was utilized. Advancements to the technical training curriculum would be a definate advantage to our students. The Technology Center of DuPage is just minutes away and offers great learning opportunities to students at minimal cost. What budgetary issues will your district have to confront during the next four years and what measures do you support to address them? If you believe cuts are necessary, be specific about programs and expenses that should be considered for reduction or elimination. On the income side, do you support any tax increases for local schools? Again, be specific. With the continued loss of funding and the recent reduction to the CPI all districts will be faced with some tough decisions. Every expenditure outside of the day to day operation should be reviewed for educational necessity. All capital improvement projects and purchases should be placed on hold until which time funding is available. As far as tax increases as a resident I would like to see every avenue exhausted prior to having to resort to this issue. Are you currently employed by or retired from a school district, if so, which one? Is any member of your direct family - spouse, child or child-in-law - employed by the school district where you are seeking a school board seat?NoAs contract talks come up with various school employee groups -- teachers, support staff, etc. -- what posture should the school board take? Do you believe the district should ask for concessions from its employees, expect employee costs to stay about the same as they are now or provide increases in pay or benefits? If your district had a superintendent or other administrator nearing retirement, would you support a substantial increase in his or her pay to help boost pension benefits? Why or why not?Absolutely not. Would much rather see funds directed to improvement of the education of our children. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office? Both Lake Park District 108 and Medinah District 11 are in need of change. A fresh perspective in which is driven to improve the learning environment of all students, better preparing them for the future. Please name one current leader who most inspires you. What's the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Be truthful, honest and do things for the right reasons. If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?Would have gotten involved sooner. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Didn't have one favority. Liked them all equally. What we learned back then drove us to be what we are today. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Do what you love to do and be yourself.
