Centro de Información gets Inspire Award from Elgin hospital
Elgin, IL - Centro de Información was honored with the 2015 Inspire Award for Community Service from Presence St. Joseph Hospital-Elgin at a ceremony on May 15.
This award, presented annually, recognizes community leaders or organizations exemplifying the values that inspire the hospital's outreach to the community.
The Presence St. Joseph Mission Committee, an advisory group of committed community citizens, nominated Centro de Información for its inspirational leadership and dedication to go above and beyond the call of duty to advance the well-being of local residents.
"Thanks to Centro de Información's programs, many in our community receive job training, emergency food supplies, parenting classes, legal advice and family counseling to help improve their quality of life," said Michael L. Brown, president and CEO, Presence St. Joseph Hospital. "We recognize the organization's efforts as a critical extension of our commitment to support a healthy and safe community."
Centro de Información is a nonprofit Hispanic social service agency that helps more than 15,000 predominantly low-income Hispanic immigrants each year. For 41 years, Centro has been a vital resource for the Hispanic immigrant community, many of whom may have substantially less education and income than the general population and to whom language and culture are barriers to find out how and where to get the help they need.
