Elk Grove Village Recognized as 2015 Playful City USA Community
Elk Grove Village has been honored with a 2015 Playful City USA designation for the first time. The national recognition program honors 241 cities and towns across the country for making their communities more playable. There were only three cities chosen from Illinois: Elk Grove Village, Chicago and Waterloo.
Elk Grove Village and the Elk Grove Park District work toward a desirable and healthy community of recreation and play for all residents. By providing a wide range of activities and a variety of venues, every child in the community has access to free recreation.
"The commitment and cooperation of the Village, the Park District, the local school districts and our civic organizations helps to keep our community a desirable and healthy place to live," said Mayor Craig B. Johnson.
"Playability is crucial to the success of our future communities, and we are proud of the work these cities and leaders are doing to provide a better quality of life for all residents, and especially families," says KaBOOM! President, James Siegal. "Play provides a competitive advantage for cities looking to attract and retain residents. With these esteemed leaders, and our friends and partners across the country, we continue to prioritize play for all kids."
