Protesters keep up pressure on mayor over police shootings

CHICAGO (AP) - Activists are keeping up the pressure on Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel over fatal police shootings.

Two dozen people protested at Emanuel's home Wednesday evening, calling on him to resign and chanting - "16 shots and a cover up."

That's a reference to the times a white police officer fatally shot black teenager Laquan McDonald in 2014. The city released a video of the incident last month. Protesters first appeared at Emanuel's home Tuesday. They say they'll continue to show up for 16 days in all.

Another police shooting over the weekend left two dead.

Another rally called by Ja'mal Green and other activists was planned at City Hall Thursday afternoon. A statement from the organizers say the latest deaths demonstrate Emanuel's response to police shootings "continues to be fundamentally inadequate."
