Palatine OKs two new shops beside Patrick Hyundai
Two new retail buildings, one of which could be a national chain coffee shop, will be built east of the Patrick Hyundai dealership at 221 E. Lake-Cook Road in Palatine.
The project, proposed by River Forest-based developer Keystone Ventures and approved unanimously by the village council Monday night, will be built on 1.15 acres east of the Lake-Cook Road entrance to Patrick Hyundai.
The development will consist of a 4,650-square-foot commercial building on the east side of the property and a 2,040-square-foot building with a drive-through lane that Timothy B. Hague of Keystone Ventures said the company hopes to lease to one of the big national coffee chains.
Jonathon N. Hague, the project's architect and Timothy B. Hague's cousin, said construction work could begin on the site in 60 days. Hague said the construction will probably take four to six months.
Although the new retail buildings will be closer to Lake-Cook Road, customers will be able to access the development from Rand Road as well by using the Rand Road entrance to Patrick Hyundai.
The plan also calls for an access road that would connect the commercial property to the south, 2239 N. Rand Road, to the road between Lake-Cook Road and Rand Road that also serves as the entrance to Patrick Hyundai.
