Devils' Elias has right knee surgery, out indefinitely

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey Devils forward Patrik Elias has had surgery on his right knee.

General manager Ray Shero announced on Tuesday that Elias has an arthroscopic procedure done at the Cleveland Clinic by Dr. Anthony Miniaci.

Shero said Elias will be out indefinitely, but the team is optimistic that he will return this season.

The team said Elias will be unavailable to reporters until he resumes participating in the team's on-ice activities.

The 39-year-old Elias had one goal and four assists in 13 games.
