Pelicans' Davis scratched again with bruised back

LOS ANGELES (AP) - The New Orleans Pelicans have scratched power forward Anthony Davis from Tuesday night's game against the Los Angeles Lakers because of a bruised back.

The two-time All-Star, who leads the club in scoring and rebounding, was injured when he dove over the first row of seats chasing a loose ball early in the Pelicans' 91-86 home loss to Indiana on Friday night.

Davis has missed four previous games this season, and the Pelicans have lost all of them - including Sunday's 114-111 overtime defeat against the Clippers at Staples Center. Last season, New Orleans was 6-8 when Davis didn't play.

The Pelicans have a game Wednesday night at Sacramento.

"It was a pretty good fall that he took. It was just one of those freak things," coach Alvin Gentry said. "Maybe if this was a playoff game, we'd stick him out there. But I just don't see a reason now to risk anything, or for him trying to overcompensate for something. So we'll just see what happens tomorrow night."
