Endorsement: Frasz for Republican nomination in District 18 of Kane County Board
Andrew "Drew" Frasz, the Republican vice chairman of the Kane County Board, is facing a primary challenge from fellow Elburn resident James MacRunnels.
MacRunnels, 58, who works in financial services, stakes out a very limited vision of county government, stating, for example, that Settler's Hill should remain open space and questioning much county spending. Despite a tax freeze, he feels county spending still is out of control.
Frasz, 59, an excavating contractor, favors reducing benefits for county board members and supports continuing the county's freeze on the levy. He has been elected to the vice chairman position by fellow board members, an indication of the regard in which they hold him.
He has been in office two terms, has an excellent attendance record and has the advantage of experience.
We endorse Frasz as someone who balances the need to provide key services with the need to keep the cost to taxpayers down.
