Janet Thompson Photography at Frisbie Senior Center
Throughout the month of April, be sure and catch the photographic exhibit of "Nature Just Is..." by Janet Thompson at the Frisbie Senior Center, 62 E. Northwest Highway in Des Plaines. Janet is a member of the Des Plaines Art Guild (dpag.org) and is an artist with a life long passion for the art of design, painting and photography. That passion for photography first started at Maine West High School and continued with her college education, where her skills for color, design and composition were developed while studying many aspects and mediums of art.
"Nature Just Is...." visually describes the photography in this exhibit, which looks at nature as works of art. Janet is in awe of the colors and beauty of the snow covered mountains in Colorado, the many shades of blues in Michigan lakes and the incredible sunsets in Oklahoma. She's also intrigued by wildlife, whether it is a herd of elk in the Rocky Mountains or an intricately woven spider web on the side of her house.
Janet also enjoys teaching art to children and adults of all ages. She is the art teacher at Acarath Montessori School in Schaumburg. She also teaches "Art Quest" children's classes with the Des Plaines Park District. A life long resident of Des Plaines, Janet and her husband, Mark, have two grown children, Christine and Clay.
The Frisbie Center is open 8:30 am-8:00 pm, Monday and Thursday and 8:30 am-4:00 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
