FBI probing Glen Ellyn, Carol Stream bank robberies

The FBI is searching for a man suspected of robbing a Glen Ellyn Chase bank Wednesday afternoon, just four days after he apparently robbed another bank in Carol Stream.

During both robberies, the suspect, described as a black man in his 30s, wore a dark wig and sunglasses. He stands between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall.

The man entered the Glen Ellyn bank at the southwest corner of Roosevelt Road and Nicoll Way about 1:34 p.m. Wednesday and demanded money from a teller, an FBI spokesman and Glen Ellyn Assistant Police Chief Bill Holmer said.

He took an undetermined amount of cash and fled west on foot, Holmer said.

The suspect also was wearing a camo "Bulls" hat and a dark blue fleece jacket, according to the FBI's Chicago Bandit tracker.

The man also is believed to be responsible for a robbery at 9:32 a.m. Saturday at the Carol Stream Chase Bank at 411 S. Schmale Road. In that heist, he is accused of showing a handgun, FBI spokesman Garrett Croon said in an email.
