Wait a minute.
It can't be over.
Summer? No way. Didn't it just get started?
So how was it that so many people were lining the streets of Naperville on Monday for the annual Last Fling Labor Day Parade?
Last Fling as in, you know, the last fling of summer.
Befitting the party-like atmosphere, there were plenty of bands and floats and happy people happily waving at happy folks who happily waved back.
"It's the biggest Labor Day parade in Illinois," Last Fling Executive Director Karen Coleman said in the days leading up to the city's end of summer bash.
This year's parade also paid special tribute to Naperville Park District, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
As the folks at the park district can tell you, time flies when you're having fun.
So maybe we just have to shake it off. Yeah, summer's over. But fall has just begun.
