Bartlett's oldest church receives Heritage Marker
On Saturday, Oct. 22, Hanover Township dedicated a Heritage Marker at Immanuel United Church of Christ, Bartlett's oldest place of worship.
Built in 1891, and historically known as the "church with the red doors," the building has served as a meeting place for numerous community groups and gatherings. IUCC is also celebrating its 125th anniversary this year.
Hanover Township Supervisor Brian P. McGuire and IUCC Pastor the Rev. Susan Tyrrel spoke during the dedication ceremony. The church hosted a reception for attendees following the dedication. Local officials, state legislators and other dignitaries were in attendance.
IUCC Bartlett is the ninth Hanover Township Heritage Marker. The program began in 2011.
